Yttrium Oxide Nanoparticles (Y2O3) Applications:
1. Yttrium oxide is Y2O3. It is an air-stable, white solid substance.
2. Yttrium oxide is used as a common starting material for both materials science as well as inorganic compounds.
3. In materials science: It is the most important yttrium compound and is widely used to make YVO4 europium and Y2O3 europium phosphors that give the red color in color TV picture tubes. Yttrium oxide is also used to make yttrium iron garnets, which are very effective microwave filters.
4. In inorganic synthesis: Yttrium oxide is an important starting point for inorganic compounds. For organometallic chemistry it is converted to YCl3 in a reaction with concentrated hydrochloric acid and ammonium chloride.
5. In other uses: Coatings for high-temperature applications;
6. Display materials (with low-energy excitation sources);
7. Fluorescent for transmission electron microscopy;
8. Ultrafast sensors (for x-ray, g-ray detection and fast scintillator phosphor);
9. Additives in paints and plastics for protecting UV degradation;
10. Additives in permanent magnets;
11. Red emitting materials in fluorescent lamps;
12. Additives in steel, iron, and non-ferrous alloys;
13. Photoelectric (solar-cells) sensors;
14. Plasma display panels; Getters;
15. High-powder lasers for drilling, cutting and welding; Infrared shielding coating;
16. Flat-panel displays;
17. Dilutes for atomic pile fuel;
18. Cathode ray tube screens;
19. Field-emission displays;
