New progress in doping modification of nano TiO2



Nano TiO2 in under the irradiation of ultraviolet light, can produce photosynthesis similar light catalytic reaction, and produce the strong ability of oxidation of free hydroxyl and reactive oxygen species, have very strong light oxidation reduction function, can be oxidative decomposition of various organic compounds and some inorganic matter, can destroy bacteria cell membrane and curing viral proteins, can kill bacteria and decompose organic pollutants, the organic pollutants into non-polluting water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2), thus has strong sterilization, deodorant, mouldproof, antifouling function of self-cleaning and purify air.

Nanometer TiO2 is a kind of wide bandgap semi-conductor, which can stimulate its catalytic activity only when the wavelength is less than 387nm, but it accounts for less than 5% of the sunlight reaching the ground, resulting in low actual utilization rate, if the wavelength is less than 387nm.

The excitation light has important meaning to the practical application of TiO2.In addition, electrons and holes in TiO2 photocatalyst are easy to compound, resulting in decreased photocatalytic efficiency.In order to improve the photocatalytic activity and spectral response range of visible light, a method of doping, surface photosensitization or the development of a new type of visible laser photocatalyst is adopted to improve the absorption rate of visible light and the stability of photocatalyst.If some broad-spectrum photocatalyst can be developed, the photocatalyst will gain a greater market application prospect.
